TryFair is a pricing reference tool. We show you price ranges based on historical data so you can evaluate quotes with context. TryFair is not a contractor, an estimator, an insurer, or a financial advisor. We do not provide quotes, guarantees, or recommendations for specific providers.
Our data comes from public permit records, government wage statistics (BLS), and user submissions. While we verify sources and update regularly, prices vary by scope, materials, season, and individual circumstances. A "fair range" is a statistical reference, not a prediction of what any specific job will cost.
We make no warranty, express or implied, that any price range is accurate, complete, or applicable to your specific situation. Always get multiple quotes from licensed professionals before making a decision.
When you submit a price, you represent that it reflects an actual transaction you experienced. You grant TryFair a perpetual, royalty-free license to display the data point (service type, city, price, optional provider name) for informational purposes.
We reserve the right to remove submissions that appear inaccurate, duplicated, or inconsistent with other data points for the same service and city.
The Fair Score (1–100) is a relative position within a data range. It is a heuristic, not a judgment of quality. A low score doesn't mean the work was bad — it may mean the scope was different, the market is thin, or the data is limited. A high score doesn't guarantee the price was "unfair" — it may reflect premium materials, urgency, or complexity not captured in our data.
The TryFair name, logo, scoring algorithm, and site design are our intellectual property. The underlying data points (permits, BLS figures) remain public domain or belong to their respective sources. You may cite our published ranges with attribution: "Source: TryFair, [month year]."
TryFair is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any decisions made based on information displayed on this site, including but not limited to contractor selection, pricing decisions, or project outcomes. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to use this service (currently: nothing, it's free).
We may update, modify, or discontinue any part of TryFair at any time. We may introduce new features, change data sources, or adjust scoring methodology. Material changes to these terms will be noted on this page with an updated date.
